What makes this tour unique

  • The Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, known as “Ohenro,” is a trip which visits the 88 temples in Shikoku where Kukai (Kobo Daishi), the founder of Shingon sect, was born and practiced Buddhism.In this tour, we visit 3 temples at the start of pilgrimage, the first, second, and third of 88 temples, walking along the road of Ohenro.It is said that this “Ohenro” style was established in 200 years ago, not only by practicing monks but also people who believed in Buddhism and even those who simply wanted to do sightseeing and so visited these temples in Shikoku.You can feel the beauty of nature, and might even encounter cute small animals on the road.First we visit a shop where you can buy clothes and items for the Ohenro.We have lunch at a local udon noodle restaurant (included in the tour fee).If you would like to travel to all the temples in Shikoku as an “Ohenro” for about 40 days, local guides can give advice to you.

  • Walk 6 km (out of the entire travel distance of 1,600 km on the pilgrimage)
  • You can buy wardrobe items and other pilgrimage necessities for Ohenro.

Take a JR train to Bando Station (about 20 minutes), and walk to the first temple, Ryozen-ji.

A 20-minute-walk to the second temple, Gokuraku-ji, and it takes about 45 minutes to go to the restaurant for a lunch from there.

You will arrive at the third temple, Konsen-ji after a 10-minute-walk from the restaurant.

After visiting these 3 temples, we will take a train from JR Itano Station to return to Tokushima Station.
